A Formula for Calculating the Defensive Power of Forces Engaged in Warfare

Abstract
In order to analyze the occurrence or non-occurrence of any phenomenon (in this context, a specific phenomenon—although the approach is also applicable to other domains such as telecommunications, security, etc., through simulation science), it is first essential to identify the factors that influence its manifestation. Subsequently, these factors must be categorized within appropriate groups based on their nature and role in affecting the phenomenon. This identification and classification of influencing factors is of great importance to any researcher or scholar.
Once the influencing factors have been identified, it becomes crucial to determine the type of these factors in terms of being fixed or variable, as well as independent or dependent. Additionally, it is important to assess whether these factors are continuous or discrete over time.
Using these scientific attributes, this study endeavors to derive a specific formula for calculating defensive power in military confrontations. The article outlines the derivation and justification of this formula.
It is noteworthy that this framework can be extended across all levels of military research and planning—including strategic, operational, tactical, and technical dimensions—as well as across all levels of warfare, whether joint and combined operations, corps headquarters, or divisional commands. The topic requires domain-specific expertise for its effective application.
