Given that the issue of extravagance creates problems in society and, on the other hand, the national media can play a fundamental role in cultural development—both in preventing extravagance and in reforming it—therefore, the position and role of planning for the optimal use of resources, considering the statements of Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Supreme Leader regarding the importance of planning and preventing extravagance, appear important. Accordingly, the present article aims to identify strategies to counter the culture of extravagance among society, emphasizing the role of the national media. To achieve this goal, a descriptive-analytical method has been used, wherein first the meaning and concept of extravagance from the perspective of Islam (Quran, traditions, and scholars) are examined, followed by the instances, adverse effects, and social harms of extravagance, and finally, the necessary solutions are explained.
