The Islamic Awakening movement across the world and the articulation of the theory of the New Islamic Civilization by the Supreme Leader have opened a clear and hope-inspiring horizon before the Islamic community. The realization of this grand ideal requires comprehensive efforts and struggles on the part of all segments of society. In this regard, women—constituting half of the social body—play an irreplaceable role in the formation and advancement of this new civilization through their diverse activities in both the family and society.
This study focuses on the central position of women in the realization of the New Islamic Civilization and seeks to address the following questions:
• What are the components of the New Islamic Civilization?
• What missions and responsibilities does the civilization-building Muslim woman bear in the domains of family and society?
Based on authentic Islamic teachings and an examination of the Islamic legal system, the mission of women is not confined merely to individual roles; rather, women emerge as agents of history-making. Islam does not push women into seclusion, nor does it consider any form of the instrumental exploitation of women—even in the path of civilization-building—to be legitimate. The emphasis of Islam is that women, even in their maternal role and in child-rearing, fulfill their historical mission by nurturing righteous, future-shaping generations.
Employing a descriptive–analytical method, this article examines this issue and elucidates the unique and irreplaceable role of the Muslim woman in constructing a new and elevated civilization.
