One of the policies that underwent a massive transformation after the Islamic Revolution was the approach of looking toward other regional and global actors instead of absolute reliance and dependency on Western powers, in which neighbors held a special position. In this regard, it appears that one of Iran's neighboring countries possessing numerous geoeconomic advantages is the Republic of Turkey. Therefore, the main question is: "What are the geoeconomic sources of tension in the political relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey?" This applied-developmental research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical and survey method. Following the collection of preliminary information and sources and consultation with academic elites to prove reliability and validity, a number of potential tensions were identified within geoeconomic components. To obtain the views and perspectives of experts in this field, a questionnaire regarding the extent to which each of these tensions affects the political relations of the two countries was provided to experts. Following data collection from the questionnaires, data analysis was performed using SPSS software. The results of this analysis indicate that geoeconomic tensions exist, and a total of six tensions were confirmed. Furthermore, the most important source of geoeconomic tension was identified as the competition between the two countries for influence in the markets of the Caucasus and Central Asia, and the joint opposition of Turkey and the United States to pipeline transit projects carrying Central Asian oil and gas through Iranian territory for export to Europe.
