Throughout human history, we have frequently witnessed changes in military and defensive styles and major revolutions in military affairs. In fact, it is a collection of fundamental changes in military and defensive styles that causes transformation and revolution in military affairs. Examining the process of evolution and change of military styles throughout history indicates that certain economic, social, and especially technological developments have led to changes in military and defensive styles. Therefore, technological changes and developments can be considered as one of the main drivers of changes in military and defensive styles. Next, we examine the process of changing military and defensive paradigms from the past to the present, as well as the technological impacts on these stylistic changes. Currently, and considering the fundamental changes that have occurred in the global strategic environment and technology, and the preparation of conditions for a wide change of styles in all levels of military and defensive affairs, macro-level schools of thought and patterns have emerged. These patterns and schools of thought mean military and defensive styles at lower levels and a revolution in military affairs, which we will refer to in the following. This paper seeks to prove the claim that modernity and renewal, through the invention of advanced and ever-more-advanced technologies, have not led to the peace and security of human society as claimed, but have rather increased its anxiety and insecurity. Furthermore, we continue by exploring the history of changes in warfare styles, as well as the impact of technological developments and changes on each of the military and defensive styles, and the factors and conditions that have given rise to these novel styles.
