The purpose of this article is "to examine the role and impact of letters and wills, as well as to identify the neglected capacities of writings as a valuable, effective, and enduring communication tool in individual and social upbringing." Despite the development of new technologies in the field of communication, letters and writings—which have long been used as a reliable tool for transmitting message and meaning—are still considered a simple and traditional yet effective and efficient communication method. This article, compiled in a review-analytical manner, examines the function of letters, wills, and writings, addressing various examples of these letters and wills from ancient times to the contemporary period. In this paper, the role of letter writing and wills in human interactions among rulers, politicians, literati, leaders, mystics, religious scholars, and artists, along with their specific functions and impacts, has been elucidated. The results of examining examples of letters, wills, and writings throughout history with various topics and contents indicated that the method of letter writing, testaments, and writings in general can be used to improve relationships and conflicts in shared life, prevent various deviations and damages, and in a sense provide educational foundations such as transmitting moral and religious concepts, transferring values and norms, enjoining good and forbidding evil, solving life correctly based on rationality, religion, and morality, and without direct confrontation or opposition, to reform, guide, and shape the behavior of individuals, especially adolescents and youth, observing their profound educational impacts. Therefore, it is suggested that parents and educators at various levels and situations make the best use of these communication tools and the educational impacts of letters, writings, and wills.
