Resistance, jihad, steadfastness, and endurance are Quranic terms meaning firmness, persistence, and stability. Resistance and perseverance constitute the soul of worship. It is the soul through which general acts and worship are revived, and it is a state of vitality by which the heart comes alive and brings about the perseverance of man's state with his Master. The truth of resistance and perseverance means remaining on the path of truth with moderation. Therefore, in this regard, Almighty God loves those who strive and sacrifice in His way; because a unified front with a solid foundation can stand against the oppressors and implement divine laws and regulations. In Islamic traditions, defense is introduced as a vital need that leads to the growth, development, security, and guidance of society, and abandoning it or showing slackening in it will have detrimental consequences; consequences such as losing growth and development, and falling into calamities and tribulations. On the other hand, folly engulfs society, justice and human and divine values perish, and corruption and injustice take their place.
