Belief in a savior and the establishment of divine justice at the end of times constitutes a fundamental pillar of Islamic thought. The present study analyzes the theoretical foundations of the uprising and revolution of the promised savior from the perspective of the contemporary Islamic philosopher, Martyr Ayatollah Motahhari. Employing a descriptive-analytical approach, this paper elucidates the concept of “waiting for relief” (Intizar al-Faraj) as a dynamic, hopeful, and evolutionary movement in human history. According to the views presented in this work, the doctrine of Mahdism does not foster passivity; rather, it instills a profound optimism regarding the future of humanity and the ultimate victory of truth over falsehood. The findings indicate that the realization of the divine promise to establish an ideal society relies on rejecting despair of God’s mercy, serving as a driving force for individual and social reform.
