This article explores the psychological factors influencing the attraction of individuals to the Basij. Utilizing theories of attitude, motivation, and emotion, it demonstrates that favorable attitudes toward the Basij, fulfillment of psychological and social motives, and opportunities for emotional release are key factors in attracting individuals. Additionally, the impact of normative pressure and the role of propaganda in shaping attitudes are analyzed. The findings suggest that diversifying activities and simplifying membership conditions can facilitate broader recruitment into the Basij.
